Our Community

Community is important to Q Roasters.

Ray's Bagels

Rays Bagels, Q Roasters, BrisbaneRay originally sold his bagels at the Northy St. markets and lives in Alderley (our local neighbourhood).  He came in for coffee when we first opened and then offered to make Bretzels for us to sell with our coffee (the best combination ever!)

The Bretzels proved to be very popular and Ray then started to make Bagels inhouse.  This has grown into Ray baking and making bagels for our customers from Wednesday – Saturday. He also makes his own Sourdough bread that he uses to make his mouthwatering Reuben sandwich.

All ingredients are organic or made by Ray – good wholesome, healthy food.  Ray and Q Roasters share the same values – sustainable food and espresso while making a connection from the source to you.

The Cheeseboard

The Cheeseboard, StaffordAcross the road from the Q Roasters roasting house, is The Cheeseboard and Soul Pantry.  The Cheeseboard is a finishing cave specialising in Australian Cheese.

Wendy studied affinage in France. Working in the Mons caves at St Haon le Chatel and many years of travelling has exposed her to cheeses from around the world. She enjoys and respects all cheeses, but her passion is Australian cheeses. Especially unique cheeses made by small producers.

The Cheeseboard has grown from a respect for good cheese and passion for local food.  Fuelled by a belief that small scale farmers, including dairy farmers, should be able to earn a living, Wendy Downes, the founder, started learning as much as she could about cheese. Its history, the science, how to make it and how to age it. However, as an experiential learner, Wendy’s most valuable lessons have come from eating cheese and enjoying it with wine and beer.

With this knowledge, The Cheeseboard, an affinage business aimed at supporting Australian artisan cheese was born.

Soul Pantry

The Soul Pantry is a beautiful one stop oasis for anyone interested in cheese, flowers or gardening, perched idyllically on the edge of Grange Forest Park.
